The Exporters Association of Malawi has been established by leading companies to provide support and co-ordination of exports.  Under the Scotland Malawi Trade Partnership programme it is running a consolidation service, starting by exporting containers to the UK.  A lack of ability to export less-than-container volumes has been identified as a constraint that can be overcome through co-operation between exporters.

You are invited to hire space on the next container which is to be sent to Scotland (in the UK) on Tuesday 23^rd November, 2010.  The charge will be $0.65 per kg, which we believe is competitive for the effective export of most products. The Association reserves the right to determine what items can be included in the container to ensure no contamination or damage between products, viability in meeting EU and importer standards, and to ensure feasible timelines.  The products will be sent to Just Trading Scotland in Glasgow, UK, who will charge a £50 per pallet processing fee, then from which internal UK transport charges will be incurred to the final buyer.  We hope you will find these prices viable and cost-effective and another way for you to export to new markets: we are trialling containers to the UK but would be interested to hear from exporters regarding other destinations.
